"g's" Gear Guide to Light(er) Backpacking
for the
Not-So-Basic Backpacker
(Revised: 5/05)

"g" and AXE take a breather
atop Mt. Washington's
northern ridge trail,
the Presidential Mts.
(6/01).
Over the course of backpacking with the Boys, "g" learned a few things about gear needs on the trail. He transitioned from the concept that more is better to learning to backpack better. This gear guide is the result of gear research, field tests, and keeping what works. As the Boys gear-up for another year of backpacking, "g's" Guide to Light(er) Backpacking for the Not-So-Basic Backpacker gets its annual revision.

The Way We Were
(2001)

The photos below offer some visiual insights about the Boys and their packs.

From left to right:
It was agreed by
G-WeB staffers that Whiskey-Tottin' certainly looks very capable and professional as he sports an EMS-550 pack and new GPS.

With a smile and a knee brace, Steve-the-Bionic-Knee carries a pack twice his size. What does he take with him, anyway?

"s" may have it right - At 10 years old, she only needs to carry 9-lbs! "s" sports an EMS 2500 Day Pack and carries three LL Bean 40 degree, High Sierra HV sleeping bags!

And now... G-WeBconnect is proud to present... the always changing... constantly revised... "g's"Gear Guide to Light(er) Backpacking for the Not-So-Basic Backpacker. (Ta-daaaa!)
