When the gun for runners sounded, smiling excited runners took to the street...
then to the trails. Peppered with pockets of fog, the weather was perfect. "g"
felt good. He was in this race for the long haul! The Garmin 205 was powered-up
and he planned to run an average race pace of 12 minutes per mi. He'd remain fueled
by drinking water about every 10-12 minutes (or, 1 mile), and take caffeinated
Power Bar gels (1-4) and S-caps (1-2) each hour. At aide stations he would eat
food and refill his water bottle. When he reached C-Team at each of the
3 handlers stations, he would down a bottle of Gatorade (Frost) and repack more
gels, salted pretzels, etc., into his small belly pouch.
