Gear/Travel List

The RTB occurs at a fickle time of the year in NH. It could be sunny/hot, sunny/cold (40-degrees), rainy or snowy. When I go to a race, I pack for all kinds of weather conditions and I rarely know what I'll be wearing until race time!

I tend to organize my gear in freezer quality, Zip-Loc bags to avoid any extra thinking during the chaos which seems to precede any race. Mostly, I don't want to forget anything! For the RTB, I'll have a zip-loc clothing bag for each of the legs I plan to run.

My list looks huge... but, cold weather, snow or rain would change the entire emotional and physical tenor of traveling and racing for two days - especially in a van with 6 others! Not only are one's choices for running attire important, but comfortable, post running (between legs) clothing as well. Oh... a bathing suit and towel worked wonders for Van #1 when they took a dip in a near by lake after they finished their last leg.

Last year we all learned that sleeping at one of the night time transition areas required some camping attire. A sleeping bag and pad (with ground cloth if you're not using a tent), pillow, and small tent (or bivvy sack) gets you out of a cramped van for a couple of hours!

Ultimately, light weight, compact gear and clothing are ideal. Happy Packing!
