Part
13: RWS Part 1 - Off to Play RWS
vans met again at TA #31. Parts #1 and #2 were together again. As Part 1 waited
for Pink to arrive, they had visions of a
jump in the nearby lake, a shower at the hotel, something to eat, and then in
about 5 hours... their final RTB reunion at TA #36 - Hampton Beach State Park
and the RTB Finish Line! | | | | | | | | | | | | RWS
Part 2 still had plenty of running business ahead of them as Part 1 finished running
RTB 2006! |
Part 14:
RTB 2006 - the Finish Line! RWS
did finish in style... and, not in last place! In 2006, Runners With Sole
ran Reach the Beach in 32:02:04 (230/300 teams)! Not too shabby! The coolest thing
about completing RTB is when the last runner for the team is approaching the finish
line, the team's name is announced over the PA, and the team (waiting by the finish
line) follows their runner into the finish chute together. At that
point, the team collects their finisher medals as a team. Cool. Very Cool! | | | With
nothin' but finish line in his eyes, the Hat rocks into the
chute... followed by some very achy and slow moving RWS! | | | | | | | | | Aughhh...
warm sand and cold ocean H2O. Finally! | | | | | | | And
yes... there was even the presentation of the birthday gift to Meg. And... as
unbelievable as it might seem, the 200 or so surrounding runners and guests all
chimed in (again) to sing Happy Birthday! | | | | | | | | | Thank
goodness for 18-Wheeler Steph and GE Jim. They drove for RWS and
what a super job they did navigating the course and keeping them organized!. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | After
frolicking in the ocean, RWS headed over to the banquet tent, had dinner, and
then back to the hotel in Hampton Beach for showers. |
