Autumn 2005:
Back-to-Back Marathon
Training Schedule

May 2005

OK... my first marathon is in the record books. I wasn't thrilled with a 4:48 time, but I've rationalized my longer then expected time due to, too many hills and food poisoning. And, as they say, "that was yesterday and this is today".

Today: I'm embarking on a new mission. I plan to run back-to-back marathons in the fall. After consulting with my marathon gurus, I've put the following schedule together. Here's my strategy. I plan to recover from my first marathon by gradually increasing my weekly mileage at a steady 10 min. mile pace. I'm going to concentrate on running longer, long runs prior to my next marathon in September, and running them at a 10-11 minute pace. I'll run the Adirondack Distance Festival Marathon at a slow 12 min mile pace, recover quickly in the following 5 weeks, and run a flat/faster Marine Corp Marathon in DC

So... here goes...
