For
over a year I've been thinking about the VT 100 Mile Endurance Run. Now it's on
the horizon... I've paid close attention to my ultra-training and races in 2007
and I think I have a good strategy for running my first 100M. Mid
April I plan to run my longest run ever - The 34th Jack Bristol/Lake Waramaug
Ultra (100K/62M) in CT. Leading up to this challenge I plan to establish a
solid running base of about 45M Monday-Friday, and weekend long runs ranging from
20-35 miles. After the 100K, I plan to increase my average weekly miles from 50-60
to 70. First, however, I'm revolving my actual miles per day/week
around my long over do treatment for chronic Achilles' tendon problems. As of
this writing (2/08) I've had 3 treatment sessions with a chiropractor who specializes
in Active Release Technique and I'm having very good success. On
the table below, the weeks are color coded dark and light (Monday-Sunday).
