It has always been the intention of the Boys that backpacking is for everyone. They have always allowed new comers. They have hiked with children and woman. But, where will they draw the line? Should monsters be allowed? Is this opening the door for Bart Simpson?

When RB One Kenobi (Jedi Night Extroadinaire) contacted the Boys Membership Committee (10/02) to enroll a new friend into their group's hiking entourage, everything seemed on the up-and-up. The Boys were initially told that Darth, a new employee at Minerva Engineering, became interested in hiking when he first perused G-WeBconnect. "After all," as RB had reported in his request, "Darth has traveled all over. He'd make an excellent hiking companion."

However, once the Membership Committee received a picture of RB and Darth they began to have some concerns. When RB wrote, "Darth had traveled all over," did he mean the universe? Something did not seem right.

Look at Darth. Wouldn't that helmet promote heat exhaustion while backpacking in the Grand Canyon? And those boots! Are they suitable for hiking? And, where the heck is a 7'-4", guy going to find a sleeping bag that fits? For his own safety, the Membership Committee had many questions to ask Darth.

So where will the Boys draw the line? It's hard to say. G-WeB hopes the Boys make the right decision... after all, none of them have a light saber.
