The Boys feel light and care-free as they tour Teton Village and the Teton Park by way of mini-van. The gravity of their pack weigh-in later that evening had yet to sink in.

High Altitude Joe
37848717It is quite evident that Joe is perceived to be a strong backpacker. 5 of 8 pollsters figured him to have the heavier pack.
Whiskey Totin' Roger
21433322Whiskey Totin' Retired Guy carried consistent 2s and 3s for a lighter pack. With old age comes some lighter-packin' wisdom?
Fearful at 10K Larry
88187838Fearful at 10K with Little O2 is clearly stigmatized by the group as a "heavyweight"... except by himself and Mike (whose survey results may not be considered valid).
"g"
42221243"g" gets low-weight scores but his credibility as a "lowest-weight" contender seems tarnished because of his obsessive on-line behavior about weighing his gear.
AXE
76352654AXE gets the full scale of scoring. This proves the point that his sociopathic self-reporting of his pack-weight has conned, mystified and stumped the pollsters.
Star Gazin' Warren
55776465Star Gazin' may have done-himself-in with his whinnin' about the "little" bottle of community fuel he had to carry. The pollsters see him as somewhat of a black hole in the heavy mass department.
Lost in the Wind River Mike
14515176Mike, the great unknown, certainly garnered the most polarized views by the pollsters. He was either seen as the "lightest-weight" or somewhere near the "carrying heavy stones in his pack" range.
Steve the Bionic Knee
63664581Steve seemed to be the only believer that he had a light(est) pack. Perhaps he should look at those pictures from the White Mountains carrying a pack that towered over his head. ("I swear... my pack just rides high! I'm not carrying much weight at all!)

* It should be noted that High Altitude filed a formal
complaint with G-WeB about the official pack weigh-in weights.
As it would later be revealed, Jim announced he had failed to
distribute vacuumed sealed and cured luncheon meats and cheese
to Larry, Warren and himself... before the weigh-in! The average weight of each
food package was about 2-lbs. As result of this new information, a G-WeB ad-hoc
Resolutions Committee was formed to urgently address the matter.

Committee Findings: Based on expert testimony and investigation, the
Resolutions Committee found in favor of High Altitude Joe's complaint and
re-tabulated the official pack weigh-in weights for the Teton 2002 trip. Here are the final results:
