Oh-oh.
The Dukes of Hazard, those Homer Simpsons of backpacking... yep... the
Boys are at it again! This time, in snowshoes! The
Northeast only had one snow fall in December, January and February... and, when
it arrived mid-February... it was a doozy! Two to three feet of the white stuff
covered the Adirondacks. Perfect for snow adventurists! With
blazing blue skies, the Hat, Can't Standup Larry, AXE and
"g" piled into Larry's van and headed
northeast of Schroon Lake to snowshoe 6 miles around Putnam Pond. They had a few
surprises... like... it's really, really, really hard work to blaze a trail through
2-3 feet of virgin snow! Anywho... G-WeB is proud to
present a digital peek of the Boys in action
as they attempt to trek around Putnam Pond.

 | | | | After
driving down a one laner to the trail head, Larry wised-up and drove
backwards 1-mile for a more thoughtful place to park his van. | They
don't even have their snowshoes on, and AXE is whining: The
Hat has fluffier mittens then me... I'm cold... are there snakes out there? | Can't
Stand Up Larry: Gee... what's all the fuss about? This snowshoeing
thing seems pretty easy to me! (Editor's note: the
Boys think they're on the trail. Oh-oh.) | "g": Pssst.
Don't tell the Hat, but I replaced his lunch with a huge snowball! | | | | | It
took the Boys with tennis racquets strapped
to their feet 70-minutes to travel 1-mile. The snow was deep! They even carved
a deep path through 4-foot snow drifts. At one point, Larry, who stands about
6'-8", sunk up to his chest and cried like a baby, I'm stuck! I
can't get out! Help me! Please! Of course, being two psychologists and
one social worker, empathy oozed from Larry's comrades in snowsuits, See
ya during the spring thaw Mr. Ice Cube! HoHaHooHAHAHA! Larry's goona freeze
and die! HoHaHaHaHa!!! | | | | | Beautiful
views and plenty of hard work. It didn't take the Boys
long to realize that rotating the lead position was the way to go! | | | | | A
peek at the northern, frozen edge of Putnam Pond. | Whoaaa
big guy! Don't loose your balance! | AXE: (Hackle.
Hackle) When "g" fell into a huge
snow-sinkhole, I replaced his lunch with a giant snowball!! | "g": I
think I'm wearing the cutest hat. |
